Farming the Pawpaw (Asimina Triloba) a hidden gem of native flora from the heartland.
Often described as North America’s tropical fruit, the pawpaw is the only member of the Annonaceae family that can be grown in temperate regions. With an exotic sweet taste and creamy custard like texture, the flavor of the pawpaw blends hints of banana, mango, cinnamon, vanilla, and melon with its own unique profile.
Our collection of pawpaw genetics represents a special part of American heritage and the dedication that generations of pawpaw growers from the past and present have protected, developed and shared with the intention of continuing and building upon the creation of a better quality fruit.
We hope the trees and scion wood Green Mammoth offers help to make rare varieties more accessible and encourage both farmers and backyard growers to include these outstanding pawpaw cultivars in their plantings.
Two different varieties of pawpaw trees are required for cross-pollination and fruit production. Grafted pawpaw trees can start bearing fruit in as few as 4 years after planting.

If you’ve made it this far and still hunger for more, I’d like to share a link to our friends at England’s Orchard and Nursery in McKee, Kentucky:
The England family has developed an amazing example of what’s possible with growing fruit and nut trees in a Zone 6 climate. They’ve been central in helping many growers throughout the region and offer a vast resource of plant material, knowledge, and inspiration.
